The Zumofenhaus - characterized by the east-facing gable front of a house from the 16th century and the south-facing gable front of a house from 1735 - is probably one of the most unique historical building complexes in Valais.

The municipality, the guarantors and the Johanniterbund recognized the importance of having a historical wine museum in the village and, together with Sierre, submitted a bid to the Valais Wine Museum Foundation. Today, it is impossible to imagine the heart of Salgesch without this jewel and it is very popular with tourists.

Anyone strolling through the thirteen rooms of the museum can discover all the facets of an extraordinary wine-growing heritage: the savoir-faire of the winegrowers, the role of the terroirs, the time of the grape harvest, the secrets of cellaring, the ways of drinking and enjoying wine, the image of wine and the art of tasting.
